Announcing: Amplify Academy Golf Cohort Scholarships for Emerging HR Leaders from Underrepresented Communities
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new scholarship program for the Amplify Academy Leadership Development Cohorts.
The cohort scholarship program is designed by the Amplify Academy Diversity Council to broaden access to career growth and leadership development opportunities for HR and people operations leaders from underrepresented communities.
Through this program, we will offer three scholarships to emerging HR leaders from underrepresented communities for the upcoming Golf Cohort (February 2023), and two one-year scholarships to the Amplify Academy.
Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
You are currently (or most recently, if not currently employed) in the Head of People role, or currently reporting to your company's top HR leader (Why? The cohorts are a peer learning and leadership development program, so we want to make sure that scholarship recipients align with the experience ranges to get the most benefit from the program)
You identify as a member of an underrepresented community (including Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Asian or South Asian, Native American/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous/American Indian/Alaska Native, or Two or More Ethnicities)
You have 5 years of HR and/or people operations experience
Application & Selection Process
To apply for the cohort scholarship, complete the application form at the bottom of this post by December 31, 2022. The information you share with us will only be used for scholarship assessments, reviews, and selections. You can also access the application survey here.
The Diversity Council will review all applications and announce selections the week of January 16, 2023.
We want to create a process that is positive and inclusive, so all applicants will be notified, regardless of selection decisions.
Selected scholarship recipients will be assigned a mentor from the Diversity Council to support their onboarding into the Amplify Academy Community and Cohort program. They will also receive one-year of access to the Amplify Academy, including the AI Learning Lab and Community.
Considering applying but not sure if this is right for you? We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of exploring developmental opportunities like this. Research has also shown that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and people from underrepresented groups tend only to apply when they fulfill nearly all of the criteria. So, even if you think you don’t tick all the boxes, please apply! We’d love to hear from you.
You can learn more about the application process in the FAQs below. We look forward to reviewing your application and learning more about you!

We aim to make the selection process as fair and equitable as possible. Each application will be reviewed by each member of the Diversity Council and graded based on a predefined scoring rubric. The scoring rubric is currently under development and will be shared publicly once finalized (before application reviews begin). In full transparency, as this is the first pilot scholarship program, we’ll likely identify opportunities to optimize the process for future scholarships.

They absolutely are. This first scholarship program is a starting point for the Diversity Council. As a pilot program with a condensed launch timeframe, we needed tighter parameters to shape the first scholarship program. We aim to learn from this first program and continue to evolve it to have as much of an inclusive impact as possible as it matures.

If you’re selected for a scholarship to the Golf Cohort, you’ll be notified and assigned a mentor from the Diversity Council who will join you in the cohort and work closely with you through the 4-week course and beyond. After the cohort, you’ll join the cohort alumni group and continue building your network and capabilities in the Amplify Academy Learning Lab and Slack community. We’re big believers in open-source approaches and building in public. You’ll be encouraged to share your experiences publicly if/as you’re comfortable. You’ll also be asked to complete a survey to help us better understand your experience, feedback, and how we might optimize the program for future classes.
