Introducing The New AmplifyTalent.com
Hello World 2.0. AmplifyTalent.com was launched in May 2012 as a platform to share my views around a broad range of topics at the intersections of social media, recruiting, and technology. Over that time I've published 80 posts, almost all original to this blog.
For those of you who subscribe, you're likely aware I made the decision at the end of 2013 to step out on my own and launch a new company - Amplify Talent. I've been off the blogging grid the past month as I've been researching new tools and redesigning AmplifyTalent.com from a pure blog to a corporate site. This involved migrating to a new theme (Forefront, hosted on WordPress.com), developing layout/content, teaching myself a bit of CSS to make it pretty(er), etc.

As the redesign is intended to primarily present the services, background, and clients of my new business my goal was to develop a minimalist format. It was very important to me to maintain the responsive layout (I'm a huge proponent of 'all mobile everything'), and keep a clean aesthetic throughout. The redesign is segmented into several areas:
- - Employer Branding
- - Recruiting Optimization
- - Hiring
This felt like the best nav structure that addresses all of the key areas visitors might want to hit. It still feels a bit dense, but I imagine I'll continue to iterate as the site evolves and settles into its new purpose.
For the blog, it was important to maintain the look and feel as I'll continue to share what I'm learning so carried most of that layout over. Many of the other sections conveyed as well, with the exception of clients, contact, and services. I plan on maintaining as active a blogging calendar as my schedule permits, so wanted to maintain continuity in format during the redesign.
The header image turned out to be one of the more difficult aspects of the redesign. I changed it at least five times, and spent an unreasonable amount of time here. In the end, this image resonated with me.
I've always felt innovation and breaking traditional HR molds to get better results comes from working against the grain (I'm deliberately steering clear of 'disrupt'). I feel true changes happen when you can step back and challenge conventional wisdom to try something different. That's what this image represents to me, and what Amplify Talent will work with clients to accomplish.
